If I have tonsillitis can my boyfriend get it.....?

I've had tonsillitis for about 4 days now but I've been on antibiotics and some of the swelling in my tonsils have gone down just a tad. I wanted to know if he could get tonsillitis by kissing me on the lips EVEN tho he had his tonsils taken out.
